2. Should I see my primary physician before scheduling surgery?
Your physician will inform you if you need to see your primary physician before scheduling surgery. Back to top
3. Will I see my surgeon before surgery?
Yes. You will have a consultation with your surgeon and the anesthesiologist prior to your surgery. Back to top
4. What type of Anesthesia will I have? Will I receive more medication for pain at home if needed?
The type of anesthesia you will be given will be determined during your pre surgery consultation. Your physician will prescribe pain medicine for home use.

5. How long will I be at the Surgery Center?
Your particular surgical procedure will dictate when we would like you to arrive and depart from the surgery center. The center staff will give you pieces of information when talking with you prior to your scheduled surgery. Back to top
6. Will I spend the night?
Your particular surgical procedure will dictate whether you will spend the night at the surgery center or at our post-surgical rehab facility. This information will be discussed and planned prior to your scheduled surgery. Back to top
7. Should I take my medications?
You may take your blood pressure, heart and thyroid medications etc., with a very small sip of water. However, do not take diabetic medications without the permission of a pre-op nurse.Back to top
8. Why can’t I take my diabetic meds?
You could be without food for 12 hours or longer and we don’t want you to have an insulin reaction. Back to top
9. Will I be given instructions after surgery?
Yes. After your surgery, a nurse will go over instructions that your doctor has written for you with you and your companion. Back to top
10. Why does someone have to be with me 24 hours after surgery?
Because medications can take up to 24 hours to leave your system, we recommend someone stay with you for your safety. We also recommend that you refrain from signing any legal documents during this time period. Back to top
11. What kind of surgical wound dressing will I have?
This depends on what type of surgery you have, but be sure to wear loose, comfortable clothes to accommodate any wound dressing. Back to top
12. Why do I have to take all of my jewelry off?
You must take all of your jewelry off because some equipment in the OR can cause burns if jewelry is worn. Back to top
13. What should I bring with me on the day of surgery?
You should bring your photo ID, insurance cards, any applicable patient forms, and any payment that you may have been asked to bring. We recommend that you leave any valuable items at home. Back to top
